Gateway offline

Check battery, background data and the first unlock after a restart.

What you see

The dashboard shows the phone offline, or the service stops overnight or after a restart.

Why it happens

Battery optimisation, manufacturer task killers, Data saver and force stop can interrupt the service. After a restart, SMSKit starts only after the first unlock.

What SMSKit needs and why

Background execution, internet access and startup handling keep the gateway reachable.

How to fix it

  1. Search Settings for SMSKit battery settings and choose Unrestricted or exclude it from battery optimisation. The Play build opens the optimisation list; the direct build can offer a one-tap request.
  2. Samsung: add SMSKit to Never sleeping apps. Xiaomi or Redmi: allow Autostart and set Battery saver to No restrictions.
  3. Tecno, Infinix, itel, Huawei, Oppo, Realme and Vivo: search Settings for auto-start and background activity and allow SMSKit. Labels vary by model.
  4. Allow background data for SMSKit and exempt it from Data saver. Keep Wi-Fi or mobile data connected.
  5. Do not force stop SMSKit. If you did, open it again and tap Start service. Unlock the phone once after every restart.
